The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders (commonly known simply as Moll Flanders) is a novel written by Daniel Defoe in 1721, after his work as a journalist and pamphleteer. By 1721, Daniel Defoe had become a recognised novelist, with the success of Robinson Crusoe in 1719.
Moll Flanders's mother is a convict in Newgate Prison in London who is given a reprieve by "pleading her belly," a reference to the custom of staying the executions of pregnant criminals. Her mother is eventually transported to America, and Moll Flanders (not her birth name, she emphasizes, taking care not to reveal it) is raised until adolescence by a goodly foster mother, and then gets attached to a household as a servant where she is loved by both sons, the elder of whom convinces her to "act like they were married" in bed, yet eventually unwilling to marry her, he persuades her to marry his younger brother.

The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe: After five years of marriage, Moll Flanders then is widowed, leaves her children in the care of in-laws, and begins honing the skill of passing herself off as a fortuned widow to attract a man who will marry her and provide her with security. The first time Moll Flanders does this, her "gentleman-tradesman" spendthrift husband goes bankrupt and flees to the Continent, leaving her on her own with his blessing to do the best she can and forget him. (They had one child together, but it died.) The second time, she makes a match that leads her to Virginia with a kindly man who introduces her to his mother. After three children (one dies), Moll Flanders learns that her mother-in-law is actually her biological mother, which makes her husband her half-brother.

Snow White is a German fairy tale known in many countries in Europe, the best known version being the German one collected by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in 1812. The German original features such elements as the magic mirror, the poisoned apple, the glass coffin, and the seven dwarfs: The Queen becomes jealous of Snow White's beauty and orders a huntsman to take Snow White into the woods to be killed. The Queen demands as proof that Snow White is dead, he return with her lungs and liver (in other versions her heart). Snow White and the huntsman go into the forest; after raising his knife, the huntsman finds himself unable to kill Snow White, as he has fallen deeply in love with Snow White. Instead, the huntsman lets Snow White go, telling Snow White to flee and hide from the Queen. The huntsman then brings the Queen the lungs and liver of a boar, which is prepared by the cook and eaten by the Queen.

They warn her to take care, to let no one in when they are away delving in the mountains.
Meanwhile, the Queen is horrified to learn that Snow White is not only alive and well, residing with dwarves, but is still the fairest of them all...

Thank You For Listening & Supporting! Much Love.

My Review : Napolitano has carved out a new genre, and it's called the thriller-crime-social justice novel. The pacing of this story kept me enthralled and looking out for the next twist and Napolitano does this without sacrificing an ounce of character. While the overall context of the story will undoubtedly draw comparisons to Patrick Quinlan and Dennis Lehane, Napolitano masterfully weaves into his story the issues we avoid in everyday human experience, yet are equally disturbed by and curious about the evil depths of man. Where other exceptional writers have "dipped their toes in the water" of these tough subjects, Napolitano not only drives it at the center of his story, he also smacks right on the face. If there is only one book you plan to read in the next month, make it Cadillac River. You will be done reading it before you know it and will be haunted by what some characters do and will equally cheer a sigh of relief that there are still those who fight for justice and what is right. Cadillac River is a barn burner of a read and will leave you breathless. One thing is for sure, after reading this book you won't look at anybody, your family included, the same way.
